In this episode, host Kristy Graham sits down for a conversation with her husband and Samaritan’s Purse Vice President of Operations Edward Graham to chat about the work being done around the world. Because he’s spent time in each department, Edward provides an inside perspective on the ministry and shares his passion for serving.

The conversation begins with a look back at 2022. Edward touches on what it’s looked like for Samaritan’s Purse to grow following the COVID-19 pandemic, and the growing opportunities to share the Gospel. From the war in Ukraine to multiple hurricanes in North America, ministry staff and volunteers have been hard at work responding to many diverse disasters in the past year.

Edward describes what it was like to watch Ukrainian refugees at the Polish border, with lines stretching as long as 14 kilometers. In 2022, Samaritan’s Purse sent food relief, winterization kits, and two Emergency Field Hospitals to the war-torn country. After setting up a field office in Kyiv, Samaritan’s Purse has continued to provide relief and support for those caught in the crisis.

Meanwhile, our US Disaster Relief volunteers and staff were hard at work to rebuild homes in Mayfield, Kentucky, and in communities hit by Hurricane Ian in Florida. Samaritan’s Purse couldn’t do that without volunteers.

“I’m just so encouraged by the love and compassion that our staff and team have had for people to serve those that are hurting and in the ditches of life.”—Edward Graham

Kristy continues the conversation by sharing Proverbs 16:9, and asking how Edward would encourage the staff as the ministry enters a new year.

“The unknown, that’s the greatest part. What we do know is Scripture, and we know every word of it is true. And every word of it is God-breathed. And so we know there’s uncertainty coming for man, but we know that at the end of the day, God wins…What I ask the team is, don’t live in fear. Be excited.”—Edward Graham

Finally, Kristy and Edward share their excitement for the opportunities coming this year, and encourage listeners to get involved. Kristy closes with a message of hope.

“We can wonder why things happen, why disasters like Hurricane Fiona hit Puerto Rico. Why homes were destroyed in Florida. Why war continues to rage in Ukraine. But I think it is exciting to watch the churches around the world that we work with, they’re focusing on God. And that He is in the midst of these hardships, and God has allowed us to serve. And it’s truly a privilege to watch Samaritan’s Purse be so committed to the Gospel.”—Kristy Graham
