Christmas is all about celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. One way that you can tangibly share God’s love this season is through the Samaritan’s Purse Christmas Catalog. Not only is this catalog a fantastic way to give meaningful gifts in someone’s honor, it can also be a means to teach children about generosity. Kristy Graham, host of On the Ground with Samaritan’s Purse, talks with the Ministry’s president, Franklin Graham, about ways to give through the Christmas catalog.

“We go out and try to buy things for people who really don't need anything. So this catalog is for you to be able to give a gift in the honor of somebody, but do it in the name of the Lord.”—Franklin Graham

Kristy and Franklin go through the catalog together, talking about projects that support vulnerable children and care for victims of manmade and natural disasters. Some of the gifts provide critical necessities like food and water. Without clean water, people’s lives are at risk. Samaritan’s Purse brings clean water to communities by drilling wells and giving filters. Franklin shared about the different types of water filters that greatly impact communities.

“There are some filters we use, biosand filters, that don't require any electricity. You just pour the water in it, and it drips through a series of layers of sand and gravel. And it purifies the water and, it builds a bacteria sludge at the top that kills the other bacteria.”—Franklin Graham

Another way to help impoverished families is by providing livestock. Goats, cows, and other livestock can have a ripple effect in the communities and give them a source of income.

There is even an option to purchase copies of God's Word for those who have never received their own Bible. All the projects have an evangelistic component to them. Samaritan’s Purse goes in Jesus’ Name because the aim is always to share the Gospel.

“It's an opportunity catalog. It is an opportunity to be involved in God's work.” —Franklin Graham

To close, Franklin shares the hope that we can have in Jesus Christ, the light of the world and the true meaning of Christmas. He encourages those who have never given their lives to Jesus to join him in the prayer of salvation.

“If you're willing to repent and believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible says that you will be saved. And so, there's no greater thing that you could do, no greater opportunity than receiving Christ right now. You could do it right now.” —Franklin Graham

Please pray that the catalog gifts purchased this Christmas touch many lives around the world. Pray also that many would come to Christ during this Christmas season. If you’d like to keep up to date with more stories on the ground, please visit SamaritansPurse.org.
