Due to one of the largest migration crises in Latin American history, Venezuelan men, women, and children are fleeing by the thousands to find a better life. Samaritan’s Purse is working at the border in Colombia and has established shelters along the migrant route to provide food, hygiene items, and a safe place to sleep for these families.
On New Year’s Day, Samaritan’s Purse transported a 30-bed Emergency Field Hospital from our warehouse to Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina to help with the surge of COVID-19. Samaritan’s Purse is supporting five hospital systems in North Carolina that are overwhelmed with coronavirus patients.

Thank you for joining us for another episode of On the Ground with Samaritan’s Purse. As we wrap 2020, we know the work of Samaritan’s Purse could not be accomplished without your prayer and God’s provision. Hear from members of our staff as numerous departments share how your prayers have made an eternal impact on their work. Be encouraged as the ministry lifts up On the Ground listeners in prayer for the coming year.
“One of the goals of this podcast is to allow you a glimpse into the work around the world. As a team, we want you to know how your prayers are specifically making a difference. Ultimately, they impact the work in the field, but it takes many unnamed people to make the work happen.” – Kristy Graham
Each year, Samaritan’s Purse creates a Christmas Catalog that highlights various programs that meet both physical and spiritual needs around the world. Kristy gathered her kids around their kitchen table to pick out their favorite gifts—teaching them about the power of blessing others. After their conversation, Kristy heard from a few of our field staff to gain perspective on how each gift creates a ripple effect.
– To hear more episodes about finding hope this Christmas, go back and listen to Kristy’s conversations with Yuliya, Yves, and Dania: three people who received Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes as kids and are now giving back.
This week in honor of Veterans Day, we are introducing you to Samaritan’s Purse staff members who have also served in the U.S. military—taking you around the ministry to hear the stories of men and women who bravely served and are now giving their talents to help in Jesus’ Name. In today’s episode, Kristy talks with these veterans about their time in the service, their calling to Samaritan’s Purse, and how they’re continuing to grow in faith and surrender to God.
On October 15, Samaritan’s Purse airlifted a 28-bed Emergency Field Hospital to the Bahamas—along with doctors, nurses, and supplies—to help combat the island’s second wave of COVID-19. Overwhelmed with coronavirus patients, Nassau’s Princess Margaret Hospital was filled to capacity and desperate for space. The Prime Minister, who was familiar with the ministry’s work after Hurricane Dorian of September 2019, called Samaritan’s Purse for additional support.
