Show Notes

In this new special feature episode of “Ordinary People Serving an Extraordinary God,” Kristy interviews Samaritan’s Purse partner Marg Baker, the Director of Mercy Ministries children’s homes in Thailand.

The Christian Happy Homes program operates six homes in Cambodia and Thailand for children who would otherwise be living in poverty on the street, caring for them from infancy to age 19 in a safe, secure, and loving home. Marg and the team continue to exhibit dedication and passion to educating children the world has overlooked.

Marg was born and raised in Canada but God called her later in life to northern Thailand to serve with Mercy Ministries. As a partner of Samaritan’s Purse, the ministry works to bring hope and healing to abandoned children.

“One thing I love more than anything about being with Samaritan’s Purse is that we can give children a safe home and education,” Marg told Kristy. “Samaritan’s Purse and Mercy Ministries is founded in Biblical ministry. We want to raise these children to be future leaders: an army of leaders bringing the Gospel to Thailand.”

When Kristy was in her early 20s, she had the opportunity to visit Marg at the Christian Happy Homes. Her two-week stay impacted her for a lifetime.

“This is why I want people to hear your story: because you are loving these children and introducing them to Christ,” Kristy says. “Your life and your joy are reflective of what God has done and what you see in others.”

Please continue to pray for Samaritan’s Purse partners around the world as they dedicate their lives to help the hurting.

Proverbs 16:9, “The mind of man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.”
John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
1 Corinthians 3:6-9, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Matthew 26:6-13, “Now when Jesus was in Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, “Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you bother the woman? For she has done a good deed to Me. For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial. Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
James 1:27, “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.”
Jeremiah 29:11, “’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’”
