In this week’s episode of On the Ground with Samaritan’s Purse, join Kristy Graham as she sheds light on how Samaritan’s Purse continues to respond to major headlines, from the unrest in the Middle East to the burning bushfires in Australia.
Samaritan’s Purse Australia has been combating the bushfires since September, and the country has witnessed massive devastation. Dave Ingram, the Samaritan’s Purse executive director for the Australia affiliate office, describes the loss communities feel. The fires have scorched over 26 million acres of land, demolished over 2,200 homes, and killed 28 people. Despite this tragedy, Samaritan’s Purse has banded together to share God’s love. Support is flooding in from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom to help those in need. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse have come together to bring physical and spiritual restoration.
Listen as Stewart Beveridge, a chaplain serving with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association rapid response team in Australia, expresses how people can pray more specifically for all those affected by the wildfires.
“People are looking for hope in the midst of a crisis like this. We’re privileged to be there to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ.” – Stewart Beveridge
Just like those in Australia who are unsure of how long the fires will burn, those in the Middle East have experienced turmoil for decades. Recently, the Samaritan’s Purse office in Iraq has relocated for safety purposes. Kristy spoke with Sarah Nowery, our information and communications officer from Iraq, to get an inside perspective.
In response to the death of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani on Iraqi soil, our international field staff were temporarily relocated. Tune in to hear how Sarah sees God working through the ministry to bring hope, even in the midst of uncertainty. Samaritan’s Purse continues to work in Iraq as national staff fill critical roles. Sarah asks for prayer that God’s will be done, and for the freedom of people in Iraq, Iran, and Syria.
“God is the one who’s going to settle this conflict between the nations.” – Sarah Nowery
The ministry continues to see God’s hand through the Australian Bushfires and unrest in Iraq. Thank you for partnering in prayer with the Samaritan’s Purse global family as they provide hope and healing to those in need.
